Today British Gas have launched two new tariffs (Friday May 30th). The first one is Fixed Price January 2017 and this will be British Gas longest fixed tariff available on the market and it is accessible to all customers. Prices will remain fixed until 31st January 2017. The tariff is fixed at a premium rate against British Gas' current Standard Tariff rates for electricity and their current Standard tariff rates for gas. If a customer were to switch suppliers before January 31st 2017 there would be a cancellation fee on £50 (per fuel) applied. The average annual bill for a duel fuel Fixed Price January 2017 customer is £1,223*.
British Gas will inform all customers on their Fixed Price January 2017 of other options that are available to them before the end of their contract. Energylinx would urge anyone at the end of their contract to shop around for the best deal available for their household and invite them to use our 100% free and impartial on-line energy comparison tool here.
* This is based on an average domestic energy consumer using 3,200 kWhs of electricity and 16,500 kWhs of gas per annum
