ENERGYLINX: Sainsbury's Energy launched two new tariffs onto the market yesterday: Sainsbury's Energy Price Check January 2014 and Sainsbury's Energy Online January 2014.
The two tariffs were introduced as replacements for Sainsbury's Energy Price Check September 2013 and Online Variable September 2013, which were subsequently removed yesterday from the market.
The first of these replacements - the Energy Price Check January 2014 - is a dual fuel tariff in which Direct Debit is a necessary precondition. The tariff's key feature is customer prices are based upon price checks of the cheapest tariff equivalents for all major suppliers, and matched accordingly. The Energy Price Check January 2014 is subject to a daily standing charge and £20 cancellation fee per fuel (including VAT at 5%).
The supplier's second new tariff - Sainsbury's Energy Online January 2014 - provides customers with a minimum 6% discount on Sainsbury's standard 'Clear & Simple' tariff rates. Said discount is applicable once on supply until 31 January 2014. The Energy Online January 2014 features mandatory paperless billing, online account management and payment via Direct Debit. A cancellation fee of £30 per fuel (inclusive of VAT) will apply should the customer wish to switch tariffs or suppliers prior to 31 January 2014.
As with the introduction of any new energy tariffs, customers are advised to seek professional advice before considering switching to these latest additions to the market.
