April 1, 2011
Normally we associate the 1st April with a host of pranks and funny stories. For those too young to pay household bills this will still probably be the topic of the day.
But for householders across the UK it is a day when a whole host of energy tariffs were withdrawn from the market or updated.
Today we see:
first:utility remove iSave v7 from the market and launch iSave v8
EDF Energy remove Fixed S@ver from the market
Npower remove Sign Online 21 from the market
E.ON Energy remove Track and Save 8 and replace it with Track and Save 9
first:utility remove Smart as Standard v1 and replace it with Smart as Standard v2
E.ON Energy remove SaveOnline 5 and replace it with SaveOnline 6
SSE,RSPB Energy ceased
Atlantic Electric and Gas, Atlantic Online FP (NSC) March 2011 ceased.
SSE, Go Direct 3 (March 2011) ceased
Scottish Power launch Discounted Energy March 2013
And all of that just after the clock struck midnight and none of these are a joke.
Energy prices are without doubt on the way up and tariffs are changing either by locking in the customer with early termination fees or making sure that the customers remains with the supplier for a year to get the best price.
With this backdrop it makes sense to get on the phone to 0800 849 7077 or 01259 220000 today to make sure that you have the best deal for your home.
You can also compare energy prices online using this link
The key to remember is to compare regularly, keep your meter readings up to date and do not let yourself be rolled over at the end of any capped or fixed deal without first checking to see if it genuinely represents value for money.
